Managing Board 

Tijan Ramahi has a diverse educational background ranging from International Business to Public Health and from Philosophy, History, and Politics to Arts & Culture paired with an international academic experience in Maastricht, the Netherlands, Madrid, Spain and Adelaide, Australia. After working for Aareal Bank in Wiesbaden, Germany, he started working with Maastricht University in 2008. During six years of intensive international project development he built up a wide expertise in intercultural management. Followed by three years as an entrepreneur in London. Today he works in Cologne as Senior Financial Consultant for selected individuals.

Tijan Ramahi joined the Foundation as an observer in May 2013 and is a member of the Board of Trustees since July 2014. In June 2016 he was appointed to the board of the foundation.

Christian Berglar gained his bachelor in communication sciences at the Università della Svizzera italiana and his master at Lunds universitet. During his studies he gathered editorial as well as project experience with the Brasilian daily newspaper Jornal do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro and with the German public international broadcaster Deutsche Welle in Bonn. Afterwards he worked with PR-agencies in Hamburg and Berlin, focusing on crisis- and communication consultancy. In 2015 he founded the LAUNENWEBER Publisher based in Cologne. The company publishes essays, short prose, Italian literature, biographies and texts of the past. It sees itself as a cultural mediator, which also encourages young authors via its literary prize. Christian has been member of the Board of Trustees from 2003 till 2014 and became a member of the Managing Board in summer 2014.

Dr. Christoph Berglar

Martin Berglar has studied law at the University of Cologne. Following the second state examination, he has successfully completed specialized lawyer trainings in corporate and commercial law, labor law and tax law. Since 2012 he has worked as a lawyer in Cologne. The main focus of Martin´s consulting practice lies in the areas of trade and corporate law. He also advises in the areas of labor law and litigation. Since 2003 Martin Berglar is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Berglar Foundation.

Dorothea Ramahi gained her MPhil in Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge (UK) and her BA in liberal arts and sciences at the University College Maastricht (The Netherlands). She is currently pursuing her PhD at the department of Asian and Middle Eastern studies at Cambridge University. Through studies and work abroad Dorothea Ramahi gathered intercultural experience in Syria, the West Bank, Argentina, the US and Oman in addition to learning English, Spanish and Arabic fluently. In 2007 she volunteered to work with the Sisters of Mary in Mexico and Guatemala. During this time, she acquired first-hand experience with the Foundation’s largest beneficiary and became convinced of the organization’s educational and humanitarian efforts. Since 2008 Dorothea Ramahi is a member of the Board of Trustees. 

Along with his wife Daniele, who sadly passed away in February 2014, Dr. Christoph Berglar (b. 1950) established the Daniele and Christoph Berglar Foundation in the year 2003. Dr. Christoph Berglar, a Cologne based entrepreneur, has lived with his family not only in Germany but also for several years in the USA and Brazil. Since 2003, he has been serving on the Managing Board of the Foundation in the capacity of a Chairman. Since then the Foundation has succeeded in steadily strengthening its capital basis whilst, at the same time, it was possible to secure a permanent flow of financial support to a growing number of beneficiaries. In June 2016 Dr. Berglar moved from the Managing Board to be a member of the Board of Trustees.
